Fr. John writes:

Ecce Quam Bonum
(How Good it is!)

How good it is to be back! I had a wonderful sabbatical. I come home refreshed, health improved, spirit lifted, mind inspired, and affections kindled. Thank you for the warm welcome I have received so far, and I look forward with eagerness to celebrate Eucharist with you all on Sunday. How good it is.

I am excited to hear all that has transpired while I was away. The Tinai roof is fantastic. The Invite-Welcome-Connect Group has done great work. We have welcomed some new people. People exercised their gifts in ministry. I truly believe we are poised and on the cusp of great blessing as we pursue our Gospel Mission in this place! Yay!

This week our sister Rosalie died. She was creative, kind, intelligent, loved nature, deeply spiritual, faithful. She will be missed. We will celebrate her Saturday, August 2nd. We will both miss her, and feel her presence with us always.

This week the Gospel is Jesus teaching the Lord's Prayer and the Parable of the Persistent Friend in the Night. The Lord's Prayer is a key text in understanding Jesus, and persistence is a core virtue in having a relationship with God. I suspect all of us will benefit from pondering Jesus' teaching on prayer this Sunday. Don't Miss it!

We also will be blessing students and educators. I have invited a member of the Daughters of the King to write and pronounce the belessing.

"How good it is" is a quotation from Psalm 133: How good it is, and a joyful thing, for siblings to live together in unity. Right now your vestry is navigating how to bring healing to a conflict in our parish. Conflict is part of life. If we meet it responsibly and faithfully, it can help us grow and move forward. Conflict is also hard and promotes lots of deep feelings. We will keep everyone informed  about how our work is proceeding. What we need now is prayer for all concerned.

Everyone is Welcome!
